Electric Picnic Fever

So the country is in the throws of Picnic Fever as we all prepare to say adieu to our summer, with one last Hurrah. This is the last excuse we have to get our summer wardrobe out, as we all root out the Child Of Prague in the hope of a scorcher of a weekend.

I hate to be the bearer of gloomy tidings, but it is more likely that I will be taking to the main stage myself to close the show than that ever elusive heatwave coming our way.
So in keeping with that we reckon that rather than buy a whole new ‘Picnic Wardrobe’, isn’t it a bit wiser to revamp the bits you have left over from the hols, where once sun shone. Here are a few really simple alterations that don’t cost the earth but will get you rocking a unique twist on that dated summer wardrobe.
A gorgeous way to update a pretty but worn/dated maxi is to simply make it into a croptop and skirt. It literally couldn’t be any easier than that. It has a real boho chic feel to it, add some pretty floral accessories and you could be giving the MIC crew a run for their money. Plus now you have 2 pieces to mix and match in the festival bag.
Next another cute look is taking that worn maxi and making it into a cute playsuit. This ensures that there will be no embarrassing moments when you are balancing shoulder high belting out your favourite number. Modesty first ladies. Team this with funky ankle boots and you are good to go.
And in keeping with a trend that is going nowhere this Autumn, how about taking the maxi and giving it the pinafore treatment. Getting rid of all that excess material that offered shade whilst on hols, pair it back and go for a criss cross back. This is perfect for layering so team with a cool tee or even a light hoodie for later in the night.
So there you have it, don’t be so quick to dispose of those maxis that you thought would never see another day. 3 new looks that will take you to the Picnic for half the cost of a shopping Spree. So stuff that rain mac to the bottom of the bag and bring your own kind of Sunshine this weekend.
